Simon Devitt is a New Zealand–based architectural photographer with an international practice spanning Australasia and beyond. Born in 1973 beside a sleeping camel during a sandstorm, he has carried both a strong sense of home and a lifelong wanderlust into his work. Shaped by experiences across cultures and climates—from Shanghai streets to the diffused “soft box” light of Los Angeles—he often incorporates people into his photographs to convey scale and a sense of time.
He is the author of the award-winning photo-book Rannoch and the All Things Considered series, along with Portrait of a House, Ripe Fruit, and Cape to Bluff. His work has appeared in leading publications including Elle Decor, Architectural Digest, Dwell, Habitus, and Architecture NZ. A former lecturer in architectural photography at the University of Auckland, Simon established the Simon Devitt Prize for Photography in 2008 and continues to support emerging talent.
Represented by PhotoFoyer in Milan, Simon has exhibited internationally in both group and solo shows and is available for commissions, collaborations, mentoring, and guest lectures worldwide. Martini preference: shaken, not stirred.
